Pastor Darrin Dwayne Lawrence Sr is the 6th child born to Bishop Joseph Lawrence Sr and Dorletha
Lawrence on September 29, 1964. He is a man of integrity with many God-given gifts. When Pastor
Darrin found his love for music in the 7th grade, he continued to develop his skill by playing in the band
at Little Rock Central High School, from where he graduated. His music education continued at the
University of Arkansas at Little Rock, culminating in a bachelor’s degree in music. Pastor Darrin has been
teaching music to students in the Little Rock school district for 26 years, and serving the Kingdom of God
as Minister of Music at New Zion Temple Ministries for over 30 years. Pastor Darrin’s love for music has
afforded him many different experiences, all of them preparing him for God’s purpose for his life. He has
graced stages all across the state, headlined in major music events, and written and produced music
that can be found on Amazon Music and iTunes. His journey has now brought him into the position of
pastor. Out of the obedience to the will of God, the baton has been passed from his father, Bishop
Joseph Lawrence Sr. Pastor Darrin Lawrence has proven himself to be a man who studies the word of
God, who lives the word of God, who believes the word of God, and who is well able to lead God’s
people. Pastor Darrin is the father of three young men – Darrin D. Lawrence II, Jonathan D. Lawrence,
and Myles E. Lawrence.
Bishop Joseph Lawrence was commissioned by God to build Him a house. In July 1970, he came to the
Brushy Island community with only faith and his family and started building the ministry -on borrowed
land. Thanks be to God we were able to expand the Kingdom of God, and are no longer the borrowers,
but the lenders! Bishop Lawrence states that A leader is only as great as the people they lead, and I
must say that through the years the Lord has truly blessed me with wonderful sons and daughters, men
and women who are truly after God’s own heart. Bishop Lawrence served well as an anointed pastor for
over 50 years, until he passed the baton to Pastor Darrin Lawrence in January 2022.
